Marsh Attends Specialized Training

Wonder Lake –
David Marsh was selected to attend an exclusive automotive training program at the Automotive Industry Action Group - world headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.

The training course was focused on value-added auditing in the automotive supply chain and was based on the requirements of ISO/TS 16949:2002 as well as the Customer-Specific Requirements of Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, and other car manufacturers that subscribe to the TS Standard.  Entry into the program was by exclusive invitation.  Candidates must meet rigid requirements for skills and experience, and must be referred into the program by an accredited registrar.

Marsh’s experience includes more than 20 years of manufacturing in over 400 plants in North America, Asia, and Europe.  Previously, Marsh had been certified as an auditor for the automotive industry’s QS-9000 Standard, which expired in December, 2003.  He also provided consulting services for companies wishing to achieve and maintain registration of compliance with the QS Standard, as well as other quality, environmental, and work-place safety standards.

“What I’ve found over the past 20 years is that if a company’s programs are set up effectively, everything they do for the certification of their programs also helps their business achieve its goals.  And usually, that means making more money,” said Marsh.

The goal of the TS Standard is continual improvement in processes by reducing waste and excessive variation.  According to Marsh, that is exactly the result that companies see when they effectively implement their systems.

Marsh indicated the training gave him new insights into the nature of value-added, process-based auditing.  “When your audits are focused, whether internal or external, on improving the value of the core processes that a company uses to satisfy its customers’ requirements, you end up reducing costs and increasing the likelihood of repeat and new business.  Ultimately, that means continual improvement of the bottom line.”

“I’m excited to bring a program like this back here to our manufacturers in McHenry County,” said Marsh.
